Douglas R. Geenen, CPA    (Shareholder)
Doug graduated from Michigan State University with honor in 1981. He worked for a regional CPA firm in Western Michigan. He was self employed from 1985 until 1988, then merged his practice with Dan Kolean to form Geenen & Kolean, PC. Doug is a Member of the Michigan Association of Certified Public Accountants, and the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants. He is married to the most patient woman on the planet, and has three great kids.



Daniel J. Kolean, CPA    (Shareholder)
Dan graduated from Western Michigan University in April 1983. He gained experience in a local and national CPA firm before forming Geenen & Kolean, PC in 1988. He is a member of the Michigan Association of Certified Public Accountants, and American Institute of Certified Public Accountants. His interests include biking, running, sports cars, hunting and fishing. He is a lifelong resident of Holland, and is married with two children

 

Julie K. Anderson, CPA
Julie graduated from Central College in Pella, Iowa in 1989. She worked for national and regional CPA firms in Iowa until 2000 when she joined Geenen & Kolean. She was with Geenen & Kolean until 2003, when she moved to South Dakota. While in South Dakota, she worked as a consultant for Geenen & Kolean and a local CPA firm, had a small accounting practice, and also was the Director of Finance & Administration for the National MS Society North Central States Chapter. She rejoined Geenen & Kolean in September 2007. Julie is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants. Julie, her husband and four children love the beaches, bike trails and many activities in the Holland area.

Katie J. Baker
Katie joined Geenen & Kolean in October of 2003 as Receptionist/Administrative Assistant. She loves working with people and always makes clients feel welcome. Katie graduated from Holland Christian High School and attended Grand Valley State University. Her interests include card making, design, event planning, going for walks in the woods with her German shepherd and flying with her husband, who is a pilot. Katie is married and lives in Dorr.

Emily J. Colenbrander
Emily joined Geenen & Kolean in January of 2006. She graduated from Hope College in 2003 and from Grand Valley State University in June of 2006 with a MSA. She is currently pursing her CPA license. Her hobbies include golfing, running, traveling, reading and spending time with friends and family. She lives in Holland.

John "Andy" Johnson, CPA
Andy joined Geenen & Kolean in December of 1999. He graduated from Grand Valley State University in 2001 with a BBA in accounting. Andy became certified in August 2003. He enjoys working on individual and business tax returns, financial statement compilations and reviews, and Quickbooks consulting. He is a member of the Michigan Association of Certified Public Accountants, and American Institute of Certified Public Accountants. His hobbies include golf and fishing. Andy is married and lives in Zeeland.

Todd E. Lambers
Todd Joined Geenen & Kolean in December 2006 and enjoys a variety of roles such as management advisory services and accounting system development.
He graduated from Ferris State University in May of 1984 with bachelors degrees in Accounting and Computer Information Systems. He worked at a regional CPA firm for 5 years, was the systems administrator at a local manufacturer for 7 years, and worked as the controller and then CFO of a local builder / developer for 9 years. Todd enjoys many outdoor activities and has been active in coaching a traveling baseball team. He and his wife reside in Holland and are active their local church and in the school and sports activities of their 3 sons.

Michelle Reiffer
Michelle joined Geenen & Kolean in the fall of 2003. In December of 2003, She graduated from GVSU with a BBA in Accounting and Finance. She prepares payroll and related tax returns for many of our clients. She also assists clients with their Quickbooks accounting software. Her hobbies include playing piano, swimming, boating, and line dancing. Michelle lives in Hudsonville.

Lacey Shinew
Lacey graduated from Grand Valley State University in August 2006 with a BBA, majoring in Accounting and Finance. She began working for Geenen & Kolean in December 2006 as a payroll processor and staff accountant. She plans to pursue an MSA from Grand Valley State University starting in the fall of 2007. She lives in Grand Haven with her husband and enjoys going for walks on the boardwalk, singing and practicing piano.

Becky Stephens

Becky Stephens
Becky started with Geenen & Kolean in November 2005. Her duties include processing payrolls and payroll tax returns. She will also assist with monthly bookkeeping projects. She enjoys outdoor recreation, traveling, reading, and watching movies. Becky currently resides in Zeeland.

Jeffrey A. Stutler, CPA
Jeff graduated from Murray State University in 1989 with a Bachelor of Science in Business. After graduating, Jeff worked for a local CPA firm in Madisonville, Kentucky. In 1992 he moved to Detroit, Michigan where he worked for local firm for seven years. He became certified in 1995. In December of 1999, he moved to Holland and joined Geenen & Kolean. He currently lives in Holland with his wife and four kids. Organizations include the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and Michigan Association of Certified Public Accountants. His interests include football, fishing, golf and biking.

Courtney E. Thompson, CPA
Courtney joined Geenen & Kolean in October 2005. She graduated from Hope College in 2004 and worked for a regional firm before joining Geenen & Kolean. Courtney became certified in February, 2007. She enjoys working on financial statement compilations and reviews. Her interests include traveling, home improvement, boating, running and spending time with her husband and dog at their home near Lake Michigan.

Sheryl Van StedumSheryl Van Stedum
Sheryl moved with her family to Holland from Illinois in 1995, and began working for Geenen & Kolean in January of 1996. She handles many of the firm’s administrative tasks, including e-filing tax returns. She also works on payroll tax returns and monthly bookkeeping projects. Sheryl has four grown daughters, and six grandchildren. Her hobbies include camping, biking, and reading. She is married and lives in Holland.

Reneé Widmayer
Reneé joined Geenen & Kolean in December of 1995. She graduated from Davenport University in June 2003 with an MBA in accounting. She enjoys working on individual, corporate, and partnership tax returns, business compilations, and assisting clients with Quickbooks set-up and consulting. Her interests include reading, running, and watching her children play sports. Reneé is married and lives in West Olive .
